MIKE L. BROWN

Mike L. Brown attended Howard University and NYU’s graduate film school where he studied under celebrated filmmakers such as Spike Lee and interned on Lee's award-winning HBO documentary When the Levees Broke in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Later, Michael received support from the Sundance Institute, Firelight Media, Ford Foundation, and Tribeca All Access for his directorial debut, the feature documentary 25 To Life. It won the CNN Grand Jury prize for Best Documentary at American Black Film Festival (ABFF) and streamed on Netflix thereafter. Michael’s recent short film Thousand Lights of Sun premiered on REVOLT TV. His latest short The Celebration was funded by New York State Council on the Arts and premiered at Micheaux Film Festival in LA and Big Apple Film Festival in NYC.

Michael believes great filmmaking is a combination of art, imagination, and entertainment. This philosophy informs his artistic approach. In order to make a compelling film, he employs all cinematic tools to reach the heart, mind, and soul of the audience.
